About The Position

As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will work in a school-based youth services (SBYSP) program located in Trenton, Mercer County NJ. SBYSP provides health and social services to youth in Mercer and Camden Counties with the goal of helping students finish their education, obtain skills leading to employment or continuing education and graduate healthy and drug free. Schedule: Full-time; 37.5 hours; Monday-Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm; 1 hour unpaid lunch

Requirements

  • Masters of Social Work (MSW) or Master's degree (MS/MA) in Counseling, Psychology or a related field
  • If MSW, must have LSW
  • Previous experience working with youth and families
  • Valid Driver's license in good standing
  • All positions require a valid driver’s license in good standing and pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals, families, and/or groups in identifying, understanding and decreasing the impact of social, emotional, and environmental factors associated with mental illness through short-term mental health counseling services (individual, group, family).
  • Manage a caseload to ensure high-quality, client-centered care.
  • Identify psychosocial conditions and needs to determine best course of therapeutic treatment.
  • Develop individual treatment plans to address presenting problems.
  • Provide clinical assessments and crisis intervention, school-wide, as needed.
  • Document client(s) progress and sessions.
  • Facilitate classroom and school-wide prevention, education and training regarding promoting positive student mental health.
  • Connect students and/or families to community resources to improve daily functioning across multiple settings.
  • Collaborate with a supportive team committed to holistic, client-centered care.
  • Consult with other service providers as needed.
  • Participate in regular supervision with Program Supervisor to support professional growth and maintain excellence in client care.
