About The Position

Compass is seeking a Mental Health Assistant for both full-time and part-time positions at the Dodge City Outpatient Building. This role is generally considered an entry-level position with opportunities for advancement within Compass. The primary focus is to work with children and their families, particularly those experiencing Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED), to equip them with the skills necessary to live their best lives. The Mental Health Assistant will be an integral part of a treatment team, providing a range of services to consumers and their families. This includes delivering attendant care, respite care, psychosocial rehabilitation, and independent living skills as directed by a supervisor. The assistant will also provide direct one-on-one supervision to consumers, working directly from their Treatment Plan to help them acquire independent living skills, achieve specific goals, and stabilize during crisis situations to prevent out-of-home placement. The position requires flexibility to be available for work as client needs arise.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Be familiar with community resources
• Possess demonstrated interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with the mentally ill
• Ability to respond effectively in a wide variety of human service situations
• Possess an interest and investment in working with children who experience Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED)
• Ability to work as a member of a treatment team in providing a continuum of services to consumers and their families

Responsibilities

• Deliver attendant care, respite care, psychosocial rehabilitation and independent living skills to consumers as directed by supervisor.
• Provide direct one-on-one supervision of consumers.
• Work directly from the Treatment Plan to help consumers learn independent living skills, complete specific goals, or help stabilize them in crisis situations to avoid out of home placement.
• Demonstrate flexibility in being available to work as client need arises.
