About The Position

Medical Room Assistant supervises client self-administration of medication. They are responsible for monitoring medical concerns and arranging for client medical care. They are responsible for accurate, effective, and efficient medication room processes.

Medical Assistant or Certified Nurse Assistant Certification is required.
Experience with chemical dependency issues.
3 - 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination.
CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training within 90 days of date of hire.
For internal candidates, in addition to clinical experience, job performance must ‘meet expectations’ in key areas including judgment, leadership, and initiative.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as medical records, psychological and chemical dependency evaluations, and intake assessments.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to document intake information clearly.
Ability to speak effectively before clients or employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Working knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Willingness to learn new skills as needed to perform job functions

Responsibilities

Maintain MAT client files according to licensure standards.
Maintain & update client appointment schedule for med. providers, counselors, & medication pick-up.
Enter clinical information/documentation into Welligent.
Order and replace supplies as needed to maintain stock level.
Schedule random callback appointments for medication counts and drug screens.
Maintains documentation in Welligent.
Performs various clerical tasks, filing, copying, etc.
Assists Medical & Health Services Manager in completing assigned audits for quality monitoring.
Attends team meetings and All Staff Meetings.
Provides emergency direction as appropriate
Ensures services delivered as in line with the Nexus Mission and Values
Other duties may be assigned.
Observing and documenting clients’ self-administration of medications.
Recording significant events related to clients’ medical issues.
Managing medical crisis and providing direction to staff according to a crisis management model.
Ensuring the medication room procedures concur with all licensing standards.
Ordering stock medications and supplies.
Completing medication room audits: First Aid Box, Medication Administration Records, etc.
Conducting health and medication management education and other client trainings, as assigned.
Maintaining positive working relationships with local vendors such as the pharmacy and lab.
Ability to document medication/medical issues clearly and concisely
Basic computer skills and knowledge.
Organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
Understanding of HIPAA Compliance, and Employee/Client Confidentiality.
