By merging our fields of expertise, we aim to become a fully integrated precision medicine company. Summary of Position Diagnostic cancer laboratory transcription/reporting. Responsible for accurate/timely transcription and appropriate distribution of dictated diagnostic/interpretive oncology reports; to include immunohistochemical, histology, summaries, and flow cytometry reports.

Requirements

  • Education experience: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Documented completion of formal medical transcription training or related coursework.
  • Work experience: Three to five years minimum experience as a medical transcriptionist

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably a minimum of one year of experience in oncology-specific transcription.
  • Non-technical laboratory personnel must complete at least six hours of continuing education annually.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating and distributing training materials under the Dept. Manager’s approval and training of new team members.
  • Responsible for creating the department monthly Quality Indicator report for the Dept. Manager.
  • Responsible for the completion of the Revised Report for the Dept. Manager and Quality and other QI reports as needed.
  • Performs monthly department Quality report check and provides to the Dept. Manager for review/feedback.
  • Project Coordinator for the department.
  • Creates and monitors all summaries for the department.
  • Training of Transcriptionist II on this process.
  • Transcription and QA of dictated diagnostic/interpretive oncology reports.
  • Create and type corrected, addended, and amended reports accurately.
  • Complete reports with maintenance of at least 98-100% accuracy.
  • Complete reports in a time-efficient manner consistent with the specified required “turn-around-time.”
  • Efficiently manage dictation files/voice module software.
  • Answer department e-mails with no supervision.
  • Manage the daily department tickets via the ticketing system with no supervision.
  • Works independently.
  • Effectively communicate with pathologists, team members, and manager.
  • Has excellent computer skills (can maneuver through the LIS with ease, advanced outlook skills, advanced Word and Excel skills), and can use Shorthand (word expander program) efficiently.
  • Can create department spreadsheets and training materials as needed.
  • Can follow and maintain basic department workflow and instructions.
  • Maintenance and filing of flow slides (in-house transcriptionists).
  • Other duties as required by Dept. Manager.
