About The Position

Position Summary: Akicita Federal is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support at the Jicarilla Service Unit in Dulce, NM. This role is critical in ensuring efficient patient care and clinic operations within a federally operated healthcare environment serving Native American communities.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Completion of a Medical Assistant training program (Certificate or Diploma)
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant preferred (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must be current and valid)
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical clinic or hospital setting preferred
Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., RPMS, IHS EHR) is a plus
Must pass a federal background check and drug screening
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with cultural sensitivity

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Perform routine clinical tasks under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare professional
Prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, and record patient history
Administer injections and immunizations as directed
Assist providers with procedures and specimen collection
Maintain examination rooms, equipment, and supplies in a clean and ready state
Document patient care in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Provide patient education and instructions per provider orders
Coordinate patient flow to ensure smooth and efficient clinic operations
Perform administrative duties such as scheduling, updating records, and responding to inquiries
Comply with all infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies and procedures
