About The Position

We are seeking a Medical Staff Manager, sometimes referred to as a Medical Staff Services Manager or Credentialing Manager. The Medical Staff Manager provides oversight and coordination for all medical staff services, medical education, and continuing education activities. Our Medical Staff Manager builds and maintains strong, professional working relationships with all levels of hospital staff. The Medical Staff Manager will develop department plans, manage budgets, and direct team members. Our Medical Staff Manager ensures ongoing awareness of current medical staff and education standards, state laws, and regulatory requirements to maintain full compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent education/experience
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS), or equivalent, required within a year of employment
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a hospital with 2 years' full time experience in the Medical Staff Services Department as a Medical Staff Manager or Medical Staff Coordinator
  • Must have strong computer, communication and writing skills with knowledge of medical terminology

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from the National Association of Medical Staff Services as Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM), preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage medical staff credentialing and re-credentialing to ensure all providers are qualified and authorized to practice
  • Maintain and update all provider files including licenses, certifications, DEA, board status and other required documents
  • Coordinate medical staff committees and meetings such as MEC, Credentials Committee, and Peer Review
  • Oversee medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, policies and ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, state law and hospital standards
  • Conduct and support quality/peer review activities including case review, performance monitoring and OPPE/FPPE tracking
  • Serve as liaison between hospital administration and medical staff leadership and provide support to department chairs and chiefs for provider performance, privileging and corrective actions
