The Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist carries out the credentialing function for providers to obtain medical staff membership status and clinical privileges with Hartford HealthCare Responsibilities include but, are not limited to: Processes applications to the medical staff in accordance with hospital specific bylaws and regulatory standards. Prioritizes applications in the queue to assure timely processing and approval by leadership groups. Maintains the Medical Staff Credentialing database and interacts with external databases. Secures documents for primary source verification. Produces and replies to general correspondence. Prepares files for medical staff leadership review, identifying “flags” in the application. Processes requests for temporary privileges and reappointment applications. Tracks all expirables (licenses, registrations, etc.) Notifies various departments and units of new providers. Responds to verification inquiries concerning current or previous medical staff members. Interacts on a regular basis with applicants (physicians and allied health), medical staff leadership, regulatory agencies, and healthcare facilities. Maintains and can communicate a thorough knowledge of the medical staff bylaws. This is 100% in person role, NOT a remote/work from home role

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years experience in a hospital administrative support role
  • 3+ years experience with medical staff credentialing strong preferred
  • Willing to obtain CPCS certification within one year
