About The Position

This position is accountable for the coordination and oversight of the medical staff at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital. Key responsibilities include physician and allied health credentialing and re-credentialing, managing meetings, and ensuring the smooth flow of information from medical staff committees to relevant sources. The role is part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to compassionate care and advancing health for patients and the community.

Requirements

  • Ability to work the hours specified.
  • Ability to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
  • Technical Certificate.
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Less than 1 year experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Associate's Healthcare related field.
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) - National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) Upon Hire.
  • Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) - National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) Upon Hire.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all credentialing activities including providing completed files, completes preliminary review of credentials documents for medical staff applications, appointments, and reappointments for members of the Medical staff and affiliates of the Medical staff in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, HFAP standards, and State and Federal law.
  • Responsible for the scheduling, coordinating/attending of Medical Staff Section and Committee meetings, as well as providing agendas and accurate minutes of the proceedings.
  • Provides appropriate documentation of all activities within the scope of the position, allowing for follow through on committee actions or change in policies and confidential medical staff actions.
  • Ensures compliance with accreditation standards for the organized Medical staff and administration.
  • Assists in meeting the credentialing needs of hospitals and clinics, physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners in the service areas.
