About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Medical Staff Affairs Coordinator for a full time, day shift in Charlottesville, VA. This is a hybrid position, requiring on site hours. The Medical Staff Affairs Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all administrative and operational activities associated with the medical staff of the hospital. This includes managing credentialing, privileging, and other compliance-related processes, as well as maintaining medical staff records and ensuring the hospital's adherence to industry standards and regulations. The Medical Staff Coordinator has the responsibility for the assigned hospitals, medical staff and its committees, services to ensure compliance with the governing documents and the state and federal requirements and applicable accreditation standards. Each Medical Staff Coordinator is the subject matter expert for his/her facility in the areas of medical staff governing documents and policies, privileging practices, and accreditation and regulatory issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Level Degree or Current National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) Certification as Certified Provider Enrollment Specialist (CPCS) and/or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM); certification may be considered in lieu of Bachelors Degree
  • 3 years of Medical Staff relations experience
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • 3 years of customer service in a medical environment
  • Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team with complex structures in a hospital environment

  • Credentialing experience
  • Current National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) Certification as Certified Provider Enrollment Specialist (CPCS) and/or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) (if Bachelor's degree is held)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating all administrative and operational activities associated with the medical staff of the hospital
  • Managing credentialing, privileging, and other compliance-related processes
  • Maintaining medical staff records
  • Ensuring the hospital's adherence to industry standards and regulations
  • Ensuring compliance with the governing documents and the state and federal requirements and applicable accreditation standards for assigned hospitals, medical staff and its committees, services
  • Acting as the subject matter expert for his/her facility in the areas of medical staff governing documents and policies, privileging practices, and accreditation and regulatory issues
  • Facilitating all aspects of credentialing, including appointment, reappointment and privileging for the medical staff
  • Representing administrative issues successfully to influence collaboration between physicians and hospital management
  • Interacting with Quality management/Peer Review and physicians to use relevant data to enable identification of practitioners who may not meet the standard of care for the hospital
  • Managing communications of the organized medical staff
  • Collaborating with other Medical Staff Offices and the Credentials Office to create and implement efficient, effective policies and criteria governing credentialing and medical staff operations
