Role Overview: MPI is offering a paid, part-time Summer Internship in our Medical Review Department for a current college student. This onsite position works directly with the Plan’s Director of Medical Review in Studio City, CA, and will be responsible for various medical process improvement initiatives for Plan participants. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled college Junior or Senior working towards a Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, public health, or a related field, with a 3.0 GPA or better.
  • Intermediate or higher skills in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Outlook, and Word).
  • Prior experience (minimum six months) with data mining, process improvement, and project management.
  • Must have analytical, critical thinking skills, service oriented, detail oriented, professional, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent attendance and reliability, with the ability to work overtime/extended hours as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting, revising, and updating policies and procedures related to medical review department protocols
  • Participate in departmental meetings, take notes and contribute to discussions.
  • Contribute to the medical review narrow network demographic project by assisting with the development and drafting of streamlined work protocols
  • Aid in creating and updating training materials for staff on medical review processes, policies, and procedures.
