About The Position

We are looking for a detail-oriented and customer-focused Medical Records Coordinator to join our team. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the seamless operation of our Medical Records Department, serving as a key liaison between physicians, medical offices, third-party requesters, and patients. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and safeguarding patient confidentiality. A minimum of 1 year of experience in medical administration or medical records is required.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA compliance.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective time management and workload prioritization.
  • Strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA laws.
  • Ensure all medical record documentation is accurately assigned to the intended patient and recipient.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for phone calls and emails from third-party requesters and patients regarding medical record requests.
  • Support the Medical Records Department with various clerical and administrative tasks.
  • Stay knowledgeable about federal, state, and local regulations regarding patient confidentiality and the release of protected health information (PHI).
  • Maintain professional phone and email etiquette when communicating with patients, staff, and external medical offices.
