About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Medical Records Clerk I performs tasks listed below in order to maintain medical record integrity through scanning and retrieval of confidential patient records. Core Competencies Receives and responds to phone calls from outside medical offices and internal departments requesting Medical Records information. Scans and files all consults and hospital reports in appropriate sections within the EMR system following departmental procedure. Retrieves charts and matches to fee tickets/encounter forms for next day’s appointments. Logs Requests for and Release of Medical Records correspondence and ensures correct patient authorization forms are completed accurately. Retrieves patient information from computerized hospital records’ systems (eg Medi-Tech). Provides coverage for scheduling Representatives as needed. Maintains safe/clean work environment according to hospital safety and security guidelines. Assists with orientation and training of new employees and volunteers as assigned. Utilizes effective communication in all interpersonal interactions including follow-up. Understands basic computer programs. Department Specific Competencies Additional Information

Requirements

  • One year work experience.
  • Ability to file alphabetically and numerically.
  • PC literate.
