The Medical Receptionist / Scheduler will be a team member who has a positive personality, is customer service oriented and a team player. The candidate will provides front desk and administrative support to the outpatient medical center to ensure optimal running of the practice.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPPA requirements.
  • Familiar with ICD10, and CPT coding as related to the company superbill and testing ordered.
  • Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records and Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of Navinet, NIA and other various authorizing agencies.
  • Ability to work with insurance and managed care companies.
  • High School Diploma/GED required. Associate degree preferred.
  • A minimum three years of experience at a front desk in an outpatient practice setting required.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical terminology a plus
  • Prior EMR experience is a plus
  • Medical Assistant Certification is a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients upon arrival courteously.
  • Answers multi phone system and directs calls appropriately.
  • Prior to scheduled appointments, checks eligibility and obtains any authorizations, pre-certs, and or referrals required for the visit.
  • Checks patients in, to include, confirmation of demographics, insurance information.
  • Scans all ID’s, insurance cards and any tests, consults, lab results or other paperwork brought in by the patient.
  • Reviews all patient registration information including, signed billing agreements, assignment of benefits and HIPPA privacy papers.
  • Checks out all patients upon completion of their office visit and follow physician orders for any follow up care.
  • Schedules all new and follow up appointments including referrals to other providers and any diagnostics ordered by the physician
  • Arranges transportation as necessary.
  • Submits and obtains referrals.
  • Confirms upcoming appointments.
  • Attends inter-office meetings as necessary
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as directed by the manager.
  • Complies with all legal requirements of the medical center.
