Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office procedures.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
  • Experience working in a gastroenterology or specialty healthcare practice.
  • Familiarity with insurance verification and billing processes.
  • Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors promptly and courteously, providing assistance and directing them appropriately.
  • Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and collect co-payments or other fees as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and route calls to the appropriate staff members.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to facilitate efficient patient care.
  • Manage daily administrative tasks including filing, faxing, and data entry to support office operations.
  • Assist with billing and insurance documentation as needed to support the revenue cycle process.
