Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or call center environment, preferably within healthcare.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with scheduling software and electronic health records.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to handle multiple calls efficiently.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working specifically as a medical receptionist or in a healthcare call center.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare insurance processes.
  • Proficiency in using advanced features of EHR systems.
  • Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the United States.
  • Certification in medical office administration or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and manage a high volume of inbound calls from patients seeking appointment scheduling, information, or assistance.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems or scheduling software.
  • Provide clear and courteous communication regarding office policies, insurance requirements, and patient preparation instructions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate with medical staff and other departments to ensure timely patient care and resolve scheduling conflicts or patient concerns.
