About The Position

The Medical Imaging Coordinator provides hands on operational leadership for medical imaging services in a Critical Access Hospital setting. This role ensures the delivery of safe, high quality, compliant diagnostic services while supporting the unique operational, staffing, and financial needs of a rural healthcare environment. The coordinator works closely with the Director of Diagnostic Services to maintain regulatory compliance, optimize limited resources, support cross trained staff, and ensure uninterrupted diagnostic coverage for inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and clinic services. Requirements

Associate or bachelor’s degree in medical imaging, radiologic technology, or a related healthcare field required.
Current licensure or certification in applicable medical imaging modalities as required by state and department standards.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in medical imaging preferably in a rural or CAH environment.
Working knowledge of medical imaging operations, regulatory requirements, and CAH reimbursement considerations.
Demonstrated ability to lead small teams, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing operational needs.

Nice To Haves

Professional certification (e.g., AMT, ARRT, CRA, or related leadership certification).
Prior supervisory or management experience in a Critical Access Hospital or rural healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

Oversee day to day operations of medical imaging services, ensuring timely diagnostic testing to support emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and clinic care.
Coordinate staffing and scheduling for small, cross trained teams, including after hours, on call, and weekend coverage as required in a CAH setting.
Support and participate in hands on diagnostic operations as needed to maintain service continuity.
Coordinate teleradiology services, and external vendor support.
Ensure compliance with CMS, CAH Conditions of Participation, ACR, state survey requirements, and other applicable regulations.
Maintain continuous survey readiness through policy management, documentation, staff competency validation, and quality monitoring.
Oversee quality assurance and quality control activities for imaging services, including equipment performance.
Participate in incident investigations, corrective action plans, and performance improvement initiatives.
Assist the Director of Diagnostic Services with departmental budgeting, supply management, and labor utilization.
Monitor expenses and implement cost effective practices aligned with CAH reimbursement and operational constraints.
Evaluate equipment needs, maintenance schedules, and replacement planning to maximize asset utilization.
Serve as a key liaison between diagnostic services, emergency services, nursing, providers, clinics, and administration.
Support outreach services, provider clinics, and community based diagnostic needs as applicable.
Communicate effectively with patients and families in a rural care environment, ensuring understanding and service excellence.
Assist with development, review, and implementation of diagnostic services policies and procedures.
Support service line growth, technology adoption, and workflow improvements appropriate for a CAH setting.
Utilize operational and quality data to support decision making and performance improvement
