Requirements

  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of external medical engagement experience
  • Master’s degree and 7 years of external medical engagement experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of external medical engagement experience

  • Demonstrated ability as an expert in a complex matrix environment
  • Pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle and commercialization process knowledge with understanding of other functions, including but not limited to, Clinical Operations, Commercial, Safety, Regulatory, Value & Access, and Medical Affairs
  • Product/therapeutic area knowledge
  • Medical or scientific education or experience from similar positions
  • Strong demonstration of relevant professional experience cross-functionally managing congresses

  • Proven ability to work in teams, cross-functionally and independently.
  • Skilled at effectively presenting ideas and documenting complex medical/clinical concepts in both written and oral communication
  • History of solving problems while exhibiting superior judgment and a balanced, realistic understanding of issues

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams to shape global strategic direction for multi-channel medical and scientific external engagement throughout the lifecycle of therapeutic area (TA) products
  • Drive engagement excellence with key external organizations to optimize Amgen’s strategic objectives
  • Supports the design and delivery of a comprehensive global external medical and scientific engagement strategy across external stakeholders (congresses, cooperative groups, and societies)
  • Develop the annual global oncology and hematology congress strategy, ensuring cross-functional alignment, prioritization, and budget stewardship across regions (ELMAC, JAPAC, US) and oversee execution to ensure alignment with medical objectives, consistent communication, and streamlined reporting
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, regional leads, TA Heads and R&D leadership, as well as Commercial and Access partners to ensure strategic alignment with external groups to achieve successful execution of medical initiatives and deliverables
  • Defines and supports external engagement needs and opportunities within the global medical engagement strategic plan based on area of responsibility; executes the final global medical engagement strategic plan via interactions with both internal and external stakeholders in partnership with medical leads
  • Partners with Field Medical to develop a comprehensive, cross-functional view of key Opinion Leader (OL) congress interactions to enhance strategic prioritization and support delivery of high-quality, strategic insights
  • Provides strategic alignment with Commercial and Access teams on Value Based Partnerships at a platform/TA level
  • Ensures capture, analysis, and distribution of scientific insights; forecasting scientific trends from opinion leader networks, cooperative groups, and/or professional societies; distributing internally to broaden awareness
  • Integrate AI-driven solutions and champion AI adoption across medical engagement, congress planning, stakeholder management, and operational workflows to enhance efficiency, insights, and strategic impact
  • Manages consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of strategic objectives to ensure successful outcomes
  • Maintain an active role within TA medical team meetings to ensure awareness of potential opportunities for external engagement
