About The Position

Greenberg Traurig (GT), a global law firm, has a dynamic full-time employment opportunity for a junior to mid-level Patent Associate or Patent Agent to join their growing medical device practice in Boston. The associate will have the opportunity to work with clients, large and small, from a variety of industries across the country, including interacting with GT attorneys across their global platform. The ideal candidate will be admitted to the patent bar and have 1-4 years of experience with all aspects of U.S. and foreign patent prosecution and counseling related to medical technologies. Prior firm experience is required. Candidates must have a strong technical background in biomedical, mechanical, robotics, electrical/computer engineering or equivalent discipline. The position requires residence in the Boston office. Candidates must also have an excellent academic record, superior organizational and communication skills (written and oral), a demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional client service and a creative and strategic approach to prosecution. Associate candidates must be admitted to the Massachusetts Bar or eligible for admission to the Massachusetts Bar. Requirements

  • Admitted to the patent bar

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with clients to identify innovation and design strategies for patent protection
  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to medical devices and diagnostics
  • Managing complex patent prosecution dockets
  • Conducting patent landscape analysis and freedom to operate assessments
  • Advising clients regarding patentability, validity, and infringement
  • Performing IP due diligence in connection with VC investments and mergers and acquisitions
