About The Position

Contingent Medical Assistant Location: Matteson, IL Position Summary The medical assistant will perform both clinical and administrative duties under the direction of a physician or designee. This includes taking patient histories, measuring vital signs, assisting with exams and procedures, and updating patient records. They will also handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, handling billing and insurance paperwork, and answering phones to support healthcare providers and ensure efficient patient care. Pay: $20-22 hourly Hours: Wednesday 9am to 5pm, other hours as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED, associate degree or higher with 2 years of work experience providing medical support to an MD or APN in a medical setting.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, automotive insurance, and a good driving record.
  • A willingness to work flexibly
  • Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function
  • Demonstrates tolerance and respect for the ideas and actions of others.
  • Proficient us of desktop and laptop computers, internet search, people management programs, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies
  • Record patient’s medical history, take and record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, etc.) and prepare patients for examinations.
  • Help physicians during physical examinations and various medical procedures.
  • Provide psychoeducation on medication and training on safe handling, storage, and administration of medication.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings with clinical and treatment professionals for the case.
  • Schedule client initial appointment and follow-up visits.
  • Update and maintain patient medical records in NYAP’s Electronic Health Record.
  • Submit medical notes in the EHR within 48 hours.
  • Provide case management for mental health
  • Complete after-visit summary for the client and collateral as directed by the physician.
  • Complete paperwork related to insurance and Medicaid billing, and, where applicable, help patients understand their coverage.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service, answer phones, manage medical, and ensure that examination rooms are clean and stocked.
  • Provide explanations and procedures to patients and provide instructions for medication and diet.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
