Where You’ll Work Welcome to Saint Joseph East, a 217-bed, full-service, community hospital located in a convenient setting in Lexington, Kentucky. Saint Joseph East also includes the Women's Hospital at Saint Joseph East which is dedicated to supporting the well-being of women in Central and Eastern Kentucky and serves a 16-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Medical Assistant, you'll keep the day running smoothly and efficiently for your patients and clinical team. Every day, you will take the lead on proactively preparing patient charts, ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in our facility. You can expect to have multiple patients daily depending on the number of physicians are on-site. Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to help others, work efficiently, and your empathy for our patients. Performs general nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or High School GED General Studies, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider.
  • Obtain and record vital signs and other appropriate information, such as height, weight, drug allergies, current medications and presenting problem.
  • May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Schedules patients for diagnostic testing and follows up to ensure completion of testing.
  • Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam rooms clean and orderly; dispose of contaminated items according to protocol.
