About The Position

This position is for a Medical Assistant in a GYN office located in West Palm Beach. The role involves preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, assisting clinical staff with procedures, administering medications and injections, and performing CLIA waived testing. Key responsibilities also include managing medical supplies, cleaning instruments, obtaining laboratory samples, and comprehensive documentation within the EMR system. Responsibilities

  • Prepare patient for examination
  • Note brief history or the reason for the visit in the patient's chart/EMR system
  • Take and record height, weight, and blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration
  • Assist the clinical staff in completing examination procedures as instructed
  • Administer medications and injections as ordered
  • Follow Universal Precautions to protect self and patients
  • Assist the medical staff in patient education and family planning and counseling
  • Stock exam rooms with supplies
  • Perform CLIA waived testing
  • Under the direction of the provider in charge, takes responsibility of medical supplies and cleaning of the medical instruments and equipment
  • Obtain Laboratory samples and complete paperwork as ordered by the provider
  • Enter data, documents and performs procedures
  • Ensure physician orders are correctly entered using electronic information/data systems
  • Document information related to procedures, injections, allergy skin tests, collection date and times correctly and in accordance with departmental policy
  • Correctly document and update patient medications as needed
  • Completely fill out office forms (i.e. referral forms) when necessary
  • Complete vaccine logs/forms
  • Interpret for the clinical staff when necessary, "Spanish/English"
  • Provide a high standard of customer service, maintains workflow and resolves problems
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times with patients, patient families, co-workers and other healthcare professionals
  • Resolve problems using appropriate resources and in accordance with departmental guidelines
  • Communicate unresolved problems clearly to the supervisor in a timely manner
  • Maintain workflow in accordance with departmental standards
  • Demonstrate knowledge of quality, safety and compliance
  • Handle all samples according to safety protocols
  • Submit data for Quality Assurance to supervisor in a timely manner
