About The Position

We're looking for a Medical Assistant to join our team in Mount Vernon! PMR Healthcare is seeking motivated, experienced Medical Assistants (MA) to join our team. The clinic provides primary care, occupational, and emergency medicine to PMR's client's employees and their families. You will work under the guidance of a practice manager and physician. Training and Support Employees will receive all necessary site-specific training, ongoing support, and medical direction directly from PMR Healthcare. Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant, preferably with 2+ years of work experience
  • Phlebotomy/blood drawing skills/experience
  • Computer competency required
  • Current BLS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self motivated; able to perform duties with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to calmly respond to patient questions/concerns in a potentially stressful situation

Responsibilities

  • Professionally answer the phone and emails following PMR policy to schedule patients, follow-up on specialist appointments, or refer inquiries.
  • Welcome patients, check them in/out of appointments, and complete patient intake
  • Help the providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; prepare fit test, disposing of contaminated supplies; administering and dispensing medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; drawing blood; taking electrocardiograms; performing Spirometry, EKG, Visual Acuity, removing sutures; changing dressings.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment; refreshing and preparing exam rooms between visits and following procedures for inventory control.
  • Complete documentation specified by PMR with the EMR.
  • Maintain all required certification(s).
