About The Position

The Medical Assistant - Triage Team provides essential clinical and administrative support to ensure timely and efficient triage of participant needs within the PACE center. This role assists with urgent care workflows, supports providers and nurses during procedures, and maintains a well-organized triage environment. InnovAge offers an alternative to nursing homes through its Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), which provides enrolled seniors with customized healthcare and social support at PACE Adult Day Health Centers. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy and EKG functions.
  • Current First Aid and CPR/BLS Certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1+ year experience working with frail or elderly populations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with medical staff daily to prioritize participant scheduling and manage triage flow.
  • Obtain vital signs and collect specimens (phlebotomy/venipuncture, point of care testing, finger sticks, pulse oximetry) as requested; promptly report abnormal findings to RN or provider.
  • Label and prepare lab specimens for courier pickup in a timely manner.
  • Prepare participants for triage evaluation, ensuring proper positioning and readiness for care.
  • Assist providers and nurses with procedures and treatments within scope and competency.
  • Administer immunizations as directed.
  • Schedule internal and external appointments and lab draws as directed.
  • Maintain triage area and exam rooms for cleanliness, supplies, and inventory; manage re-order lists.
  • Administer EKGs, ear lavages, hearing screenings as directed.
  • Complete required documentation, filing, and weekly audits.
  • Confirm receipt of lab results and follow up with labs as needed.
  • Comply with all regulatory and InnovAge policy standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
