About The Position

HSHS is seeking a Medical Assistant I (MA) to join their team in the Multispecialty Care clinic. Ideal candidates are patient-focused, mission-driven caregivers who can apply clinical knowledge to coordinate and perform hands-on care to support expert, compassionate care for cardiac patients. The position is full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, located in Decatur, IL. HSHS operates 13 hospitals and numerous community-based health centers and clinics across Illinois and Wisconsin, with over 13,000 colleagues. Requirements

  • Completion from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required (1 or more years of Medical Assistant experience may be considered in lieu of completion of program per department discretion)
  • Medical Assistant (MA) Certification/Registration required or must be obtained within 90 days of start date from one of the following credentialing organizations: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Healthcare Association (NHA), American Allied Health (AAH), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), International Joint Commission on Allied Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO), National Performance Specialists (NPS)
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) is required within 60 days of hire
