About The Position

Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, offering a multitude of care options in over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices. This allows clinic staff opportunities to learn, explore various interests, or specialize. Under the direction of management and physician leadership, the Medical Assistant III performs and oversees functions related to clinical activities. This includes maintaining patient flow by assisting and promoting primary and preventative health care delivery, performing technical procedures, lab protocols, and clinically oriented activities under physician/provider direction. The role also involves assisting management in achieving office efficiencies according to stated policies/procedures to ensure efficient operations, with a focus on supporting physicians, clinic staff, and management to promote customer satisfaction through a "Service First" philosophy. The Medical Assistant III acts as an assistant to the physician/provider by providing primary healthcare and patient care management, collaborates with clerical staff to optimize operations and patient flow, and interacts with outside healthcare facilities and agencies regarding patient care and insurance. The position requires maintaining updated competencies and demonstrating the ability to discuss processes and workflows with leadership and accreditation bodies. Additionally, the role involves performing front office duties and providing coverage in other departments or locations as needed, while demonstrating excellent customer service skills and supporting the model of patient and family centered care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a competency-based accredited MA program, including a clinical rotation, or equivalent experience
  • 1 year (12 months) MA experience; or completed CH MA internship and (6) months MA experience; or completed CH MA apprenticeship program
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 30 days from hire Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 30 days from hire required
  • CRT-Medical Assistant, Certified (CMA) - AAMA American Association of Medical Assistants within 90 Days required Or CRT-Medical Assistant, Registered (RMA) - AMT American Medical Technologists within 90 Days required Or CRT-Medical Assistant, American Registry (ARMA) - ARMA American Medical Technologists within 90 Days required Or CRT-Medical Assistant, Certified (NCMA) - NCCT National Center for Competency Testing within 90 Days required Or CRT-Medical Assistant, Certified (CCMA) - NHA National HealthCareer Association within 90 Days required Or CRT-Medical Assistant, Certified (NRCMA) - NAHP National Association for Health Professionals within 90 Days required Or LIC-License Practical Nursing (LPN) - State of Michigan upon hire Required

Responsibilities

  • Performs and oversees functions related to the clinical activities including, but not limited to: maintains patient flow by assisting and promoting the delivery of primary and preventative health care

  • Performs and is formally assigned (2) of the additional responsibilities as part of their primary duties, which should be at least 20% or more of dedicated time: Qualified language interpreter
  • Performs and is formally assigned (2) of the additional responsibilities as part of their primary duties, which should be at least 20% or more of dedicated time: Super User for EPIC or specific competency
  • Performs and is formally assigned (2) of the additional responsibilities as part of their primary duties, which should be at least 20% or more of dedicated time: Advanced provider support – assisting with complex procedures and/or infusion/chemo scheduling
