Jennersville | ChristianaCare As a Medical Assistant I, you will assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments. This role is crucial for delivering quality patient care and encompasses various clinical and clerical duties within the medical practice. Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 5pm Fridays from 8am to 4:15pm
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Responsibilities
- Greeting and assisting patients both virtually and on-site
- Rooming patients
- Preparing patients for visits by taking and recording vital signs
- Performing point of care testing
- Administering injections and medications
- Conducting EKGs when needed
- Supporting clinicians during examinations and procedures
- Preparing treatment rooms with essential supplies
- Completing patient-specific paperwork
- Ensuring that electronic medical records (EMR) are up to date with relevant test results for subsequent visits
- Handling patient callbacks with information as directed by providers
- Following state guidelines for the sterilization of medical equipment
- Managing prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills
- Scheduling tests and surgeries
- Performing quality control on point of care testing equipment
- Offering documentation assistance during provider examinations and procedures
- Undertaking clerical tasks as assigned by supervisors
- Troubleshooting issues with video visits
- Helping patients utilize ChristianaCare’s Patient Portal
- Working safely, adhering to departmental safety rules, and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or violations that could potentially harm patients, staff, or visitors
