Kennett Square | ChristianaCare As a Medical Assistant I, you will assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments. This role is crucial for delivering quality patient care and encompasses various clinical and clerical duties within the medical practice.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and assisting patients both virtually and on-site
  • Rooming patients, and preparing them for visits by taking and recording vital signs
  • Performing point of care testing, administers injections and medications, and conducts EKGs when needed
  • Support for clinicians during examinations and procedures is critical, and this includes preparing treatment rooms with essential supplies, completing patient-specific paperwork, and ensuring that electronic medical records (EMR) are up to date with relevant test results for subsequent visits
  • Handling patient callbacks with information as directed by providers and follows state guidelines for the sterilization of medical equipment
  • Managing prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills, schedules tests and surgeries, and performs quality control on point of care testing equipment
  • Offering documentation assistance during provider examinations and procedures, undertake clerical tasks as assigned by supervisors, troubleshoot issues with video visits, and help patients utilize ChristianaCare’s Patient Portal
  • Responsible for working safely, adhering to departmental safety rules, and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or violations that could potentially harm patients, staff, or visitors
