Kennett Square | ChristianaCare As a Medical Assistant I, you will assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments. This role is crucial for delivering quality patient care and encompasses various clinical and clerical duties within the medical practice.

Requirements

High School Graduate or GED required.
A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Responsibilities

Greeting and assisting patients both virtually and on-site
Rooming patients, and preparing them for visits by taking and recording vital signs
Performing point of care testing, administers injections and medications, and conducts EKGs when needed
Support for clinicians during examinations and procedures is critical, and this includes preparing treatment rooms with essential supplies, completing patient-specific paperwork, and ensuring that electronic medical records (EMR) are up to date with relevant test results for subsequent visits
Handling patient callbacks with information as directed by providers and follows state guidelines for the sterilization of medical equipment
Managing prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills, schedules tests and surgeries, and performs quality control on point of care testing equipment
Offering documentation assistance during provider examinations and procedures, undertake clerical tasks as assigned by supervisors, troubleshoot issues with video visits, and help patients utilize ChristianaCare’s Patient Portal
Responsible for working safely, adhering to departmental safety rules, and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or violations that could potentially harm patients, staff, or visitors
