About The Position

ChristianaCare Primary Care at Darley Green is looking for a Medical Assistant I. Primary Care at Darley Green is located at 3565 Philadelphia Pike in Claymont, Delaware. The facility holds certification as a Patient-Centered Medical Home from the National Committee for Quality Assurance. Services provided at Darley Green encompass primary medical care across all age groups, immunizations, minor medical procedures, physical examinations, and on-site lab services. As a Medical Assistant I, you will assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments. This role is crucial for delivering quality patient care and encompasses various clinical and clerical duties within the medical practice. Darley Green | ChristianaCare Work Schedule: Monday from 7am to 3pm Tuesday from 7am to 7pm Wednesday from 7am to 2pm Thursday from 7am to 1pm Friday from 7am to 4pm

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and assisting patients both virtually and on-site
  • Rooming patients, and preparing them for visits by taking and recording vital signs
  • Performing point of care testing
  • Administering injections and medications
  • Conducting EKGs when needed
  • Supporting clinicians during examinations and procedures
  • Preparing treatment rooms with essential supplies
  • Completing patient-specific paperwork
  • Ensuring that electronic medical records (EMR) are up to date with relevant test results for subsequent visits
  • Handling patient callbacks with information as directed by providers
  • Following state guidelines for the sterilization of medical equipment
  • Managing prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills
  • Scheduling tests and surgeries
  • Performing quality control on point of care testing equipment
  • Offering documentation assistance during provider examinations and procedures
  • Undertaking clerical tasks as assigned by supervisors
  • Troubleshooting issues with video visits
  • Helping patients utilize ChristianaCare’s Patient Portal
  • Working safely, adhering to departmental safety rules, and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or violations that could potentially harm patients, staff, or visitors
