About The Position
Please note: This role will be a closer position. Under supervision of the Administrative Nurse Manager and MA Supervisor, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the Clinical Nursing Staff, the Hospital Assistant III assists in the delivery of care to patients in multiple Cancer Center ambulatory group practices. This position supports the various cost centers within the Cancer Center, multiple campuses, and satellite offices. Work includes a variety of personal care and nursing procedures including assuring positive care outcomes. They will perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of the specialty care services provided to patients within the practices. They are required to learn and be able to assist in all Cancer Center specialty practices. S/he is required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $32.86 - $41.01 (Hourly Rate). Requirements
- Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both directly and over the phone.
- Able to meet physical requirements.
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations.
- One year’s experience as a Hospital Assistant in a medical practice.
- Current State of California Phlebotomy Certification (CPT1)
- Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
Nice To Haves
- Experience with insurance verification, medical record data abstraction, medical assisting, or patient financial services strongly preferred.
- Degree from accredited medical assisting school.
- Bi-lingual or multi-lingual capability (Spanish, Cantonese, Russian) strongly preferred.
