UCSF Medical Center seeks faculty and staff that are committed to the values of professionalism, respect, integrity, diversity and excellence that are integral to our mission Under supervision of the Practice Supervisor/Manager, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the Clinical Nursing Staff, the Hospital Assistant assists in the delivery of care to patients in Pulmonary, ILD and Optimal Clinics. Work includes a variety of personal care and clinical procedures including assuring positive care outcomes. S/he will perform assigned patient care and review of systems data collection in support of the specialty care services provided to patients within the practices. S/he will perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of the specialty care services provided to patients. S/he is required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center. Work also includes mentoring of staff to promote development of skills to the mentee. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $32.86 - $41.01 (Hourly Rate). Requirements

  • Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program; or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
  • 6 months experience in an outpatient practice
  • Ability to use EMR and perform chart abstraction into EMR
  • Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft office
  • Ability to prioritize work efficiently
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and writing skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to multi-task and be flexible in changing work assignments at short notice
  • Familiarity with different insurances, resources available for patient medication and needs for prior authorizations
  • Experience in Pulmonary

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Cantonese or Spanish preferred
  • Familiarity with EPIC
  • Bachelors degree in health or behavioral science
  • Experience with insurance verification
