About The Position

Under supervision of the Ambulatory Care Patient Supervisor and Administrative Manager and guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services Organization, and in collaboration with clinical staff, the Medical Assistant assists in the delivery of care to patients in UCSF Endocrine Practice. General responsibilities include managing patient flow in the practice, obtaining vital signs, reviewing health maintenance status, maintaining and stocking exam rooms, and assisting in emergencies. The Hospital Assistant III also supports general administrative functions at reception including scheduling, referral management and other duties as required and demonstrates excellent customer service skills with patients and staff. The Hospital Assistant must be able to competently work in an advanced Electronic Health Record environment. The Hospital Assistant is required to comply with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $32.86 - $41.01 (Hourly Rate). Requirements

  • One to two years’ experience as a Medical Assistant in a high-volume clinical practice
  • Active American Heart Association CPR certification
  • Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program
  • Strong computer skills, including basic keyboarding skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work efficiently with multiple forms of patient & provider communication
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong writing skills to include the ability to compose basic office communications
  • Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with patients
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with team physicians and referring physicians
  • Demonstrated attendance record
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
  • CPT Phlebotomy License

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent college education
  • Knowledge of medical insurance
  • Familiar with medical terminology
  • Familiar with health care policies such as HIPAA or Joint Commission requirements
  • Familiar with outpatient clinic workflow
  • Experience of Epic health records system
  • American Heart Association BLS – CPR Certified
  • Medical Assistant Certification
