About The Position

UCSF Transgender Care is a growing multidisciplinary group of providers and services at UCSF Health offering gender affirming medical and surgical interventions for adults. Services currently include primary care and hormone therapy, chest surgery, gynecology and gynecologic surgery, vocal health, and reproductive health. Genital surgery (vaginoplasty and phalloplasty) are planned to launch in the near future. UCSF Transgender Care’s mission is to provide high quality, evidence-driven, patient-centered gender affirming medical and surgical care to all transgender, gender non-binary, and gender non-conforming people, to conduct cutting edge research on transgender medical and surgical care, guided by community participation, and to teach our key principles of evidence-based, community-informed transgender care and research to the next generation of medical providers. The program’s vision is to eliminate disparities in access to transgender medical care, and improve the quality and quantity of transgender medical and surgical research. UCSF Medical Center seeks faculty and staff that are committed to the values of professionalism, respect, integrity, diversity and excellence that are integral to our mission Under supervision of the Practice Supervisor/Manager, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the Clinical Nursing Staff, the Hospital Assistant III assists in the delivery of care to patients in the Transgender Care Program. Work includes a variety of personal care and clinical procedures including assuring positive care outcomes. S/he will perform assigned patient care and review of systems data collection in support of the specialty care services provided to patients within the practices. S/he will perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of the specialty care services provided to patients. S/he is required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center. Work also includes mentoring of staff to promote development of skills to the mentee. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $32.86 - $41.01 (Hourly Rate). Requirements

  • Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant/Medical Administrative Program or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • One year of experience as a Medical Assistant/Hospital Assistant in a medical practice
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
  • Experience in an outpatient practice
  • Able to coordinate NP services, assist patients with office, medications and procedure authorizations and explain process to patients
  • Ability to use EMR and perform chart abstraction into EMR
  • Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft office
  • Ability to prioritize work efficiently
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and writing skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to multi-task and be flexible in changing work assignments at short notice, which includes increasing work hours as needed to cover the practice needs
  • Ability to work in a fast paced setting
  • Coordination of services between multiple practices demonstrable by excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with LGBTQ patients
  • Familiarity with EPIC
  • Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Certification from an approved medical assistant program or equivalent combination of training
