About The Position

The Medical Affairs Fellow will serve as an integral member of the Innoviva Specialty Therapeutics (IST) Medical Affairs team, contributing to strategic and scientific initiatives that support IST’s portfolio of critical care and infectious disease therapies. As the inaugural fellow, this individual will gain broad exposure across medical strategy and operations, scientific communications, medical information, evidence generation, and cross‑functional collaboration. The fellow will work closely with Medical Affairs leadership to support disease awareness, interpret emerging clinical data, develop scientific resources, and ensure responsible communication of scientific insights. Through partnership with the Industry Pharmacists Organization (IPhO), the fellow will additionally participate in national professional development, leadership activities, and networking within a broader community of industry fellows.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE‑accredited institution (to be completed by June 2026).
  • Demonstrated interest in Medical Affairs, including strategy and operations, medical information, and scientific communication activities.
  • Experience collaborating in fast‑paced, cross‑functional environments (industry‑related experience preferred but not required).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret complex scientific data.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and scientific rigor.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Remote work supported; proximity to Waltham, MA preferred for hybrid experience.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and help execute Medical Affairs strategic and tactical plans.
  • Assist with disease awareness, therapeutic education, and evidence‑generation initiatives.
  • Support preparation of advisory board materials and capture key insights to inform strategy.
  • Interpret and summarize clinical trial data to support scientific messaging and Medical Affairs strategy.
  • Assist with development and review of scientific slide decks, FAQs, medical response letters, and educational resources.
  • Support the creation and review of abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for scientific meetings.
  • Support the development of scientifically accurate, fair‑balanced medical information resources.
  • Contribute to the creation of field‑facing scientific tools and training materials for the MSL team.
  • Participate in optional rotations with Field Medical Affairs and other functional areas (Regulatory, Clinical Development, Commercial) as available.
  • Contribute to or lead Medical Affairs projects that advance departmental objectives.
  • Participate in IPhO National Fellows Council (NFC) initiatives, meetings, and leadership opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other fellows across the IPhO network to enhance leadership, professionalism, and industry acumen.
