This is a part-time, non-compensated Medical Advocate Internship within the Safety and Wellness - Sexual Violence Support Services Program. The intern will gain valuable work experience by providing crisis recovery and support, with the flexibility to work from home from time to time. The role involves being on-call to offer 24-hour medical advocacy in hospital emergency rooms and police districts. Interns are expected to provide comfort to survivors throughout hospital examinations, evidence collection, and police interviews, always demonstrating a non-judgmental, supportive attitude. A one-year service commitment and completion of a 40+ hour Crisis Intervention Training are required. Interns will receive comprehensive training, experience in crisis counseling, references for future job opportunities, and networking opportunities with veteran advocates and other organizations.
