Position will be open until filled. We are currently seeking: A gardener to join our team and, under general supervision, perform general labor and maintenance of City public gardens, in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures. Your responsibilities will include: Performing manual labor tasks in order to maintain clean, safe, attractive and user-friendly City public gardens; maintaining greenhouse, gardens, lawns, flower beds, and other cultivated areas as assigned; following all safety rules and regulations to minimize risk of accidents. Assisting with garden and greenhouse planting, soil preparations, and implementation of projects. Performing a variety of garden and grounds maintenance activities, including fertilizing, weed control, pest control, mowing, trimming and watering procedures. Cleaning up trash and debris; pruning and trimming bushes and flora; planting and extracting flowers and plant life; loading and hauling materials. Utilizing proper safety precautions in all work performed; reporting problems and emergency situations; recognizing, avoiding, and reporting unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries. Assuring that hazardous materials are cleaned up in a timely manner and controlled according to City policy and procedures. Hours: Monday through Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (30-minute lunch). May work weekends, holidays, and some over-time as needed. Regular and timely attendance is required.
