About The Position

Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical and mechanical equipment such as vacuum systems, pneumatic systems, electrical power supplies, water chillers, and electrical control systems in multiple aerospace manufacturing facilities. Coordinate with suppliers for service and parts. Create and maintain a Sputter Chamber Troubleshooting and Repair Manual and Operations Manual.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • 2 to 3 years work related experience required
  • High mechanical aptitude and related hands-on experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical schematics
  • Ability to read, understand and follow various technical documents, blueprints, procedures, diagrams, operator manuals, and engineering drawings
  • Ability to read and use close tolerance measuring devices
  • Work with computers and various control systems
  • Ability to use MS products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to maintain records for equipment
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information
  • Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Ability to walk/stand constantly 7 to 9 hours/day
  • Ability to lift, carry, twist, and stack up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend and stoop 3 to 5 hours/day
  • Ability to reach 3 to 5 hours/day
  • Ability to grip and grasp hands to utilize tools 7 to 9 hours/day
  • Ability to kneel occasionally
  • Ability to go up and down standard flight of stairs 10 times per day
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with fractions and decimals
  • Ability to convert units of measure
  • Ability to understand and follow documents, provided in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Nice To Haves

  • Technical Degree in HVAC, Facility Electrical or Maintenance preferred
  • Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, ASE, A&P or Mechanical Engineering Degree

Responsibilities

  • Set-up, operate, observe, and diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair
  • Expert-level ability to disassemble complex mechanical systems gearboxes, pumps, engines, rotating equipment, pneumatic and hydraulic actuators while preserving parts integrity and identifying hidden damage or wear.
  • Skilled in precision assembly, including correct sequencing, alignment, torque application, tolerances, and fits using micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, torque wrenches, and specialty fixtures.
  • Diagnoses mechanical failures during teardown, identifying root causes such as lubrication breakdown, misalignment, fatigue, contamination, or improper installation.
  • Performs final functional checks such as rotational tests, leak checks, break-in procedures, and operational verification prior to returning equipment to service.
  • Maintain and repair electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and vacuum equipment
  • Maintain and repair the vacuum chamber structure, perform leak check
  • Work with production team to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and process inconsistencies
  • Communicate repairs/parts with outside suppliers
  • Create and maintain a General Operation Manual, a Troubleshooting Manual, a Preventative Maintenance Manual, and an Illustrated Parts Catalog
  • Create and maintain a redundant parts inventory
  • Keeping supervisor informed on work status
  • Inform supervisor of problems or potential problems
  • Perform duties during normal or shifted hours to maximize plant production
  • Maintains a clean, organized work area to prevent contamination of mechanical components during repair or rebuilding activities.
  • Maintain a well-groomed appearance appropriate for the position or situation
  • Respecting the confidentiality of the Company, customer, and personnel information
  • Assist and train other employees as needed
  • Performing other duties and tasks assigned by the supervisor
  • Seek guidance and direction as necessary to perform duties
