Mechanical Systems Technical Support Engineer Location: Quincy, IL (Onsite) Your Day in This Role Start the morning reviewing overnight cases from field technicians supporting our air systems across Compression Technologies North America. You’ll triage issues, jump on calls, and guide IRCC’s and Distribution partners through complex mechanical diagnostics. Midday may take you from building a fault tree for a recurring reliability concern to drafting a crisp technical bulletin or Knowledge Base article—complete with multimedia that accelerates troubleshooting for the field. In the afternoon, you might huddle with Engineers, Operations, and Management to pinpoint a root cause, then pivot to mentor a teammate on best practices. Some days include a customer site visit for hands-on support, or a session contributing your voice to a new product design or field test—ensuring real-world implementation sticks. What You’ll Own Become the subject matter expert for assigned air products and represent training/technical support in new product development teams. Create and maintain technical bulletins, troubleshooting guides, and fault trees; enrich the Knowledge Base using multimedia for rapid field adoption. Collaborate with peers and cross-functional partners to understand specifications and uncover true root causes. Mentor Product Support colleagues and lead global multi-media solution authoring and deployment. Participate with global expertise network leaders to advance TechDirect knowledge management—improving technician effectiveness with faster access to solutions. What Makes You Successful Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of mechanical training and experience. 5+ years working hands-on with mechanical/industrial equipment—how it’s built, how it fails, and how to fix it. Demonstrated technical depth, calm problem-solving under pressure, and clear, professional communication.
