About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking Associate, Mid-Level, or Senior Mechanical Systems Design & Analysis Engineer (Hydraulic System, Actuation & Control) to join our 787 Mechanical Systems Design Engineering team in North Charleston, South Carolina. The Mechanical Systems Design & Analysis Engineer will support the development and documentation of mechanical, fluid, and thermal environment for the Hydraulics and Flight Control components/assemblies for the 787 Program. This role will support Install & Integration of our 787 Hydraulic and Flight Controls Sustaining SOW. This position is for first shift. This position is 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at one of the listed location options.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, i.e., Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace engineering.
  • 2+ years of professional experience working in an engineering field
  • 2+ years of experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools
  • 2+ years of experience working with cross-functional teams
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace related role
  • 5+ years of experience working in CATIA V5 & ENOVIA toolsets
  • 5+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, procedures, and specifications
  • 5+ years of experience in a mechanical system, hydraulic fluid system, and/or environmental controls systems engineering roles
  • 2+ years of demonstrated project management skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 10%

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining mechanical systems detail, product detail, assembly, and installation designs (e.g., hydraulic tubing, transport element routing and geometry).
  • Assisting with engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, and shop revision requests).
  • Follow documented processes, specifications, and procedures that support the design and manufacture of mechanical, fluid, and thermal environment.
  • Collecting data to support the development of statements of work.
  • Reviewing functional and physical input used in the development of integrated design and system architecture.
  • Assist in preparing technical documents for mechanical components and systems.
  • Supporting the development, maintenance or modification of system designs/proposals to provide design documentation and high-level requirements to downstream users/customers.
  • Perform spatial integration at system or component level.
  • Assist in supporting proposal preparation and new business development efforts.
  • Works under general supervision.
