About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a Associate , Mid-Level, or Senior Mechanical Systems Design & Analysis Engineer to join our 787 Mechanical Systems Design Engineering team in North Charleston, South Carolina. The Mechanical Systems Design & Analysis Engineer will support the development and documentation of mechanical, fluid, and environmental control system components/assemblies for the 787 Program. This role will support the 787 ECS (Environment Control Systems) Sustaining - Functional and Equipment SOW.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 2 or more years of professional experience working in an engineering field
  • 2 or more years of experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • 2 or more years of experience working with cross-functional team

Nice To Haves

  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience mentoring and developing others
  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace related role
  • 5+ years of experience working in CATIA V5 & ENOVIA toolsets
  • 5+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, procedures, and specifications
  • 5+ years of experience in a mechanical system, hydraulic fluid system, and/or environmental controls systems engineering roles
  • 2+ years of demonstrated project management skills

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining mechanical systems detail, product detail, assembly, and installation designs (e.g., composite ducting, hydraulic tubing, transport element routing and geometry).
  • Assisting with engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, and shop revision requests).
  • Follow documented processes, specifications, and procedures that support the design and manufacture of mechanical, fluid, and environmental control system commodities.
  • Collecting data to support the development of statements of work.
  • Reviewing functional and physical input used in the development of integrated design and system architecture.
  • Assist in preparing technical documents for mechanical components and systems.
  • Supporting the development, maintenance or modification of system designs/proposals to provide design documentation and high-level requirements to downstream users/customers.
  • Perform spatial integration at system or component level.
  • Assist in supporting proposal preparation and new business development efforts.
  • Works under general supervision.
