About The Position

As our Mechanical Reliability Technician, you’ll keep critical equipment running in a demanding steel manufacturing environment—diagnosing issues, planning fixes, and getting machinery back online quickly and safely. What a day might look like You walk the line, listen for changes in a gearbox, check vibration, and verify clearances with precision instruments. A crane call comes in—an unexpected stoppage. You isolate the fault, reference schematics, and pull the right components using hoists and overhead cranes. You document the corrective action in SAP, summarize trends for the crew, and button up the job with quality and safety at the forefront.

Requirements

  • Comfort standing, walking, bending, and working at heights for extended periods in extreme temperatures.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement instruments.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Hands-on background in welding, cutting, fabrication, and equipment maintenance (1+ years preferred).
  • Field experience in heavy industrial operations and/or a manufacturing setting (1+ years preferred; 3+ years strongly preferred).
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

  • Champion our safety culture and actively participate in CMC Safety Programs; wear required PPE at all times.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components with test equipment, hand tools, and your technical know‑how to find root causes.
  • Leverage the SAP maintenance module to plan and record work, document time, and capture corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics; identify grades/sizes of bolts, pipes, tubing, cables, and wires.
  • Inspect equipment, identify defects, and dismantle devices safely using hoists, overhead cranes, hand, and power tools.
  • Apply deep working knowledge across bearings, power transmission, hydraulics/pneumatics, lubrication, welding principles, rigging, overhead cranes, gearboxes, and mobile equipment operation.
  • Prepare clear maintenance reports, analyzing data and summarizing trends that drive reliability.
  • Deliver dependable attendance, meet quality expectations, and adapt to changing priorities.
