This position is responsible for providing timely technical support to Production on questions about Engineering designs and/or documentation. Will document technical issues that are determined to be the responsibility of Engineering in the Shopcall System. We provide a scheduled posting end date to assist our candidates with their application planning. While this date reflects our latest plans, it is subject to change, and postings may be extended or removed earlier than expected. Responsible for providing timely technical support to Production on questions about Engineering designs and/or documentation. Document technical issues that are determined to be the responsibility of Engineering in the Shopcall System. Evaluate our products, processes, and advanced systems from an operational and manufacturing environment perspective and communicate recommended improvements to Engineering. Support Engineering by proactively identifying and resolving small/medium scope design and/or documentation issues (LE+ Process). Communicate effectively with mechatronics engineering to find and fix program issues on proprietary and third-party software. Collaborate with software developers in earlier SW development. Share important information about product issues, solutions, and best practices with our Liaison Engineering Network at the other Truck Plants. Keep abreast of state-of-the-art developments in the trucking industry and apply the new knowledge to designs as appropriate. Utilize effective collaboration and best practice methods to identify and resolve engineering issues early in the New Product Development process. Generate and implement ideas to improve systems, tools, processes, product cost, and quality. Keep management informed on developments with key product issues and their resolution, and with the status of projects and special assignments, by reports using PowerPoint and Excel. Interface with Compliance & Regulatory Affairs to ensure designs meet domestic and export government regulations, restrictions, and codes.   • Providing timely technical support to Production on questions about Engineering designs and/or documentation.
  • Documenting technical issues that are determined to be the responsibility of Engineering in the Shopcall System.
  • Actively managing Shopcalls through each stage with appropriate urgency/timing requirements: Open, Resolved, Verification, Closed.
  • Effectively communicating and collaborating with all impacted parties (Engineering, Production, Manufacturing, LCM, Quality, Warranty, etc.).
  • Assuring Shopcall solutions are timely, robust, cost-effective, and Engineering aligned.

  • Interfacing with Compliance & Regulatory Affairs to ensure designs meet domestic and export government regulations, restrictions, and codes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 4 years of experience in Medium & heavy-duty truck design, testing and manufacturing.
  • Experience must include experience with each of the following: CAD expertise using Siemens NX/CATIA/SOLIDWORKS to create 3D package models, concept geometry, and detailed part designs; detailed 2D part/assembly drawings, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, and creation of plant assembly installation diagrams; using 5-Why/8D Method/Fishbone to determine the root cause of quality issues; leading teams and/or leading medium to large scale design programs (i.e. budget, scope, and timing); working in a medium & heavy-duty truck manufacturing plant; and truck assembly and plant processes.
  • Hours: 6:00AM to 2:30PM.
  • Must work at least 1 weekend per month.
