Mechanical Estimator
About The Position
DirectHire Can you look at a sketch, picture the machine in your head, and turn it into real numbers? If that sounds like your kind of challenge, keep reading. We’re looking for a mechanically minded problem-solver to join a fox-valley manufacturing team as a Mechanical Estimator . In this role, you’ll be responsible for creating accurate estimates for mechanical equipment sales, along with related clerical tasks. Estimating machinery is a semi-automated process using proprietary software—but this is not a plug-and-play role. You’ll need a solid understanding of mechanical equipment so you can visualize how systems are built before entering data into the program. That skill becomes even more important when estimating custom OEM equipment. Your ability to mentally “build” the equipment and think through how it functions is key to success.
Requirements
- Strong mechanical background (engineering, mechanical design, or hands-on assembly experience)
- Ability to visualize mechanical systems and components
- Comfort working with software-driven estimating tools
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Nice To Haves
- Electrical background is a plus , but not required
Responsibilities
- Create accurate estimates for mechanical equipment sales
- Interpret drawings, sketches, and conceptual designs (ability to read & interpret machinery blueprints)
- Collaborate with applications and sales teams
- Handle additional clerical and documentation responsibilities as needed
