About The Position

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Wiremold Team in West Hartford, CT. In this role, the Engineering Intern will be responsible for assisting the Product Development Team in simple product designs through CAD modeling and drawing documentation. Functions include working with Design Engineers and Engineering Managers on assignments that support testing of products, maintenance of products, customer related issues and general product engineering challenges.

Requirements

  • College Junior or higher preferred; Pursuing a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree.
  • Currently enrolled in- or recently completed BSME or BSEE.
  • Creative approach to problem solving based on solid theoretical engineering skill.
  • Willing to provide engineering support required to sustain current product offering as well as evaluate new product designs. This includes performing product testing in the laboratory.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks which includes the development of assemblies using part models of components is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have an acceptable level of interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to contribute to several projects at a time.
  • Use written and oral communication skills.
  • Read and interpret data, information and documents.
  • Analyze and solve non-routine and complex office administrative problems.
  • Use math and mathematical reasoning.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with usage of a network analyzer, hand held cable analyzer (i.e. Fluke), and multimeter.

Responsibilities

  • Modeling and documenting design elements for engineering solutions.
  • Creating testing environments for products, conducting the tests and documenting results.
  • Reviewing product standards and updating as required.
  • Working on manufacturing floor to solve design related issues.
  • Prepare written and verbal reports.
  • Conduct engineering studies/investigations.
