About The Position

HDR’s Mechanical Engineer will: design and develop HVAC, plumbing and Fire Protection system for various commercial and industrial buildings; perform load calculations, equipment selection, and system layouts for heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems; design plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary drainage, storm water, and natural gas piping, ensuring compliance with applicable codes; conduct energy modeling and code compliance analysis using EnergyPro; prepare detailed construction documents and drawings using Revit and AutoCAD; establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance; conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines; collaborate closely with architects, structural and other disciplines throughout all project phases; write and edit mechanical specifications; coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents; provide construction contract administration as needed; and conduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators or Mechanical CAD Technicians as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 4 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience must include experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
  • Experience must also include experience in: mechanical design for commercial or institutional buildings; analysis of HVAC and plumbing systems; Trane Trace or similar software; Autodesk Revit; AutoCAD; and EnergyPro.
  • Must hold Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (from any US jurisdiction).
