The Job: As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll be part of our Tools & Outdoor team located in Valley City, Ohio working as a hybrid employee. You will be responsible for engineering activities related to the development of products for the Post-Sale Support Engineering Group. You'll get to:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years' experience as a professional Project/Design Engineer in new product development and/or product design.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical system design and analysis.
  • Familiarity with electro-mechanical products, motors, motor controls, and actuator design.
  • Thorough and diligent with strong technical problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.
  • Familiarity with stage gate development processes to deliver new products.
  • Experience in designing within CAD applications, NX or Catia preferred.
  • Experience working with and designing sheet metal parts, stampings, welded assemblies, and injection molded plastic parts.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills to generate/evaluate creative ideas.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks by being organized and detail-oriented.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure or working knowledge of product platforming preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in using a product lifecycle management (PLM) system, Teamcenter or Windchill preferred.
  • Experience in designing within CAD applications, NX or Catia preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of various new Post-Sale Support products in the Outdoor category that meet design, marketing, regulatory, quality, and cost requirements as defined by engineering and the product development process.
  • Provide technical leadership for assigned projects.
  • Manage & execute engineering project deliverables to ensure on-time completion of projects.
  • Manage multiple assemblies and systems while considering multiple design concepts. Weigh the tradeoffs between concepts to determine the best path forward.
  • Create new and/or modify existing 3D CAD geometry and drawings of plastic/steel components, sub-assemblies, and other complex layouts.
  • Proactively consider cost, performance, and durability requirements to help meet project cost targets.
  • Disposition supplier PPAP documentation for part production release.
  • Develop and execute the test plans for new product development projects.
  • Investigate design issues and test failures and effectively drive corrective actions.
  • Hand-on concept developing and prototyping.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is developed and maintained within CAD and PLM software.
  • Execute/coordinate drawing releases and revisions within CAD & PLM software.
