Mechanical Engineer On-site in Huntsville, AL Target salary range: $70,000 - $90,000.00/Year Active Secret Clearance Required to Start Responsibilities: Design parts, assemblies, and complete systems using 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or NX), including creation and revision of detailed engineering drawings. Perform and document engineering analyses (e.g., structural, thermal, transportability, weight/center of mass). Develop, release, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), analysis reports, and other engineering documentation. Lead or participate in Agile Hardware teams collaborating across engineering, production, procurement, quality, and logistics functions. Review and interpret vendor data to ensure alignment with mechanical and material requirements. Apply ASME and military standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1366, MIL-STD-1472) to product design and documentation. Solve complex technical challenges with innovative mechanical design solutions. Support contract deliverables and data packages, including formal technical documentation. Provide mentorship and informal leadership to junior engineers and interns. Qualifications: Federal Law requires U.S. Citizenship Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Clearance: Active Secret security clearance required. Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant mechanical design experience. Core Skills: Proficient in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks, Creo, or NX). Skilled in 2D drawing creation and review per ASME Y14 standards. Experience with PLM tools (e.g., Teamcenter) and MRP systems (e.g., SAP). Familiar with MIL and ASME standards relevant to mechanical design and documentation. Preferred Qualifications: Exposure to Finite Element Analysis and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, Femap, NX Simcenter, NASTRAN). Experience supporting mission-critical or safety-critical systems. Understanding of Agile/Kanban workflows and tools like Jira. Knowledge of systems engineering processes, including trade studies, interface definitions, verification/validation. Familiarity with MDA standards (e.g., MDA-QS-001-MAP, MDA Instruction 5000.20-INS). Exposure to GMD domain or Launch Support Systems hardware. Experience with DOORS and/or CAMEO. Demonstrated ownership of full product lifecycle: design, analysis, release, and production support. Hands-on experience with mechanical and structural component testing, integration, or deployment.
