Job Summary: As a Mechanical Engineer for our Federal Florida office, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects for clients such as NASA, Space X and Blue Origin, among others. We don't work on the rockets; we work on the ground components that make it all possible. Join our talented team of mechanical engineers as they design office space, hangars, and launch pads to support the space teams. Examples of the type of work to be performed include the design of mechanical and plumbing components and systems; engineering calculations and analysis of thermal and fluid dynamics; development of HVAC system designs for a variety of facility types; and fire protection and life safety system design and integration. Additional responsibilities encompass the evaluation and selection of mechanical equipment, energy efficiency analysis, coordination of mechanical systems with other disciplines, construction administration and field support, as well as facility condition assessments and capital asset management planning for mechanical infrastructure. This position operationally reports to the Director of Mechanical Design Operations.

Requirements

  • BS Mechanical Engineering degree required from an ABET-accredited program
  • Three to six years of professional Mechanical Engineering experience
  • EIT Certification preferred; ability to obtain PE Certification within 1-2 years required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications
  • Must have working knowledge of the ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, NEC, UFC, and UFC codes; with a preference for knowledge of the FBC, IBC, IMC, and IPC, and AFMAN/SSMAN requirements.
  • Valid/Unrestricted FL driver license
  • Must be a US Citizen for Security Clearance requirements.
  • Active/Interim or ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CAD, Revit, Bluebeam Revu, or other modeling/drafting software is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform project direct billable functions and responsibilities to maintain a personal utilization rate of 85%-90%.
  • Assist our engineering teams in various phases of project development, from concept design to implementation and testing.
  • Ensure project team members create deliverables that meet or exceed the customer’s expectations and standards.
  • Own issues and drive them to resolution with internal and external customers.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and progress reports.
  • Communicate effectively in person and in writing to keep customers, contractors, and project teams well informed of pertinent information in a timely manner.
  • Assumes responsibility for filling in gaps in customer communication.
  • Responsible for performing engineering tasks such as site design, permitting, assessments, and construction management.
  • Adheres to Project Management Plans (PMP) and Quality Control (QC) programs as assigned but does not change them without approval.
  • Communicates design concerns or input to Engineer of Record (EOR) and/or Design Lead and Project Manager.
  • Participates in Fed-Florida Quality Control Program (reference "Project Quality Control Policies and Processes" ).
  • Ensure adherence to Fed-Florida’s quality control standards, including pass-through services/consulting.
