About The Position

Peloton mechanical engineers architect, design, and test hardware systems for Peloton products. In this role, you will collaborate within a cross-functional team to concept, design, manufacture, and test new fitness products. You will also collaborate closely with our Mechanical Test Team to translate structural requirements into test plans and integrate results back into the design. Successful candidates will utilize a solid statistics background and knowledge of accelerated test principles to define test plans and support their engineering recommendations. As the team is evolving with an exciting product roadmap, you will play a key role in ensuring mechanical design robustness, manufacturability, delivery, and cost goals are all met. You will work collaboratively with many teams including Program Management, Product Management, Operations, Quality, Electrical Engineering, Firmware Engineering, and Industrial Design.

Requirements

  • 4+ years mechanical design experience
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • Solid engineering fundamentals in statics, dynamics, stress analysis, and material science
  • Experience with core manufacturing methods including sheet metal, injection molding, weldments, machining, and casting
  • Proficiency in statistics and experience with statistical software packages (e.g., Minitab, JMP)
  • Experience defining specifications and test plans for design validation or engineering confidence
  • Experience collaborating on development and production planning work with Contract Manufacturers
  • Proficient in one 3D MCAD Package (Solidworks is a plus)
  • Familiarity with PLM and ECN tools and processes
  • Experience with test and measurement tools
  • Ability to substantiate and communicate engineering decisions based on data, as well as being able to present to executive level leadership
  • Track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional partners to deliver products

Nice To Haves

  • Design of Experiments (DOE) experience
  • Knowledge of accelerated life testing theory and methods to model field performance
  • Specific expertise in fitness equipment

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and development of product components and subsystems
  • Create engineering specifications, requirements, and documents to meet product requirements and industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO)
  • Perform engineering analysis on designs to ensure they consistently meet requirements
  • Write and execute test plans starting from early concept and document/communicate results to the cross-functional team
  • Use statistical analysis to inform engineering decisions and design changes
  • Collaborate with adjacent development teams to ensure design success including concept testing, quality, industrial design, product management, and operations
