About The Position

Space is a critical domain, connecting our technologies, our security, and our humanity. While others view space as a destination, we see it as a realm of possibilities, where we can do more — we can innovate, invest, inspire, and integrate our capabilities to transform the future. At Lockheed Martin Space, we aim to harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve. We’re creating future-ready solutions, focusing on resiliency and urgency through our 21st Century Security® vision. We’re erasing boundaries and forming partnerships across industries and around the world. We’re advancing spacecraft and the workforce to fuel the next generation. And we’re reimagining how space can connect us, ensuring security and prosperity. Join Our Multidisciplinary Engineering Team to Deliver World Class Flight Representative Units (FRUs) You will be joining the Next Generation Interceptor program as our Certified Principle Engineer. In this role, you will: Lead the development, revision, and release of mechanical designs, models, datasets, and product structures for missile system components and assemblies using Creo 10 and Windchill / EPDM. Produce and interpret detailed engineering drawings, datasets, and GD&T; facilitate peer reviews of detailed, assembly, and installation datasets. Assign junior engineers tasks related to component development, dataset creation/review/release, tolerance analysis, and scheduling. Conduct and document tolerance analyses, perform material selection (primarily metals), and execute trade studies to ensure robust, manufacturable designs. Work closely with thermal, stress, and dynamics teams to design ground and flight hardware that satisfies test able performance criteria. Develop manufacturing flow plans that achieve required form/fit/function while meeting external and internal interface specifications. Drive or support resolution of high level mechanical integration issues, including assessment of detailed design changes during the build phase. Coordinate with subcontracted component suppliers to manage interface control and ensure producibility of high level assemblies. Partner with other engineering disciplines to develop and release sub scale test article designs and associated test plans. Support production floor hardware builds, troubleshoot assembly challenges, and implement design improvements. Generate cost and lead time estimates for proposed design changes. Participate in engineering change processes and provide support for MRB/FRB activities as needed.

  • Active Security Clearance
  • Experience designing mechanisms
  • Experience with ordnance
  • User of CREO CAD software
  • Familiar with releasing drawings in Windchill/EPDM
  • CPE or CPE delegate experience
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Experience with higher DSR modeling (DSR4-6)
  • Experience executing Trade Studies
  • Experience throughout engineering lifecycle (system definition, design, build, test and operational deployment)
  • Experience with Q-Notes & non-discrepant hardware resolution
