About The Position

This Mechanical Engineer role is a hybrid of design, documentation, and manufacturing support. You will be the bridge between initial concepts and the production floor, ensuring that our products are defined accurately, managed systematically, and built efficiently. Attollo specializes in the development of versatile opto-electronic sensors and mechanical systems that will draw upon a strong background in mechanical design for manufacturing and thermo-mechanical analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
  • Deep understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance stack-up analysis, and material selection.
  • Strong communication skills for interfacing between engineering and production teams.
  • Requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an ITAR environment
  • Familiarity with Enterprise systems like SAP
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and DFM principles
  • Familiarity with Agile and SCRUM Practices

Responsibilities

  • Work with Cryogenic coolers, IR Cameras, Laser Rangefinders, and other integrated optical-electronic systems.
  • Support R&D efforts by providing design, review, assembly, Tooling, and test support.
  • Work with various fabrication equipment like 3D printers, CO2 Laser cutters, and Waterjets.
  • Create and refine detailed 2D technical drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks.
  • Develop Interface Control Drawings (ICDs) to define and manage physical and functional interfaces.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure parts meet fit and function requirements.
  • Manage the product lifecycle within SolidWorks PDM, including check-ins/outs, state changes, and version control.
  • Review the Configuration Management process, ensuring that the Bill of Materials (BOM) matches the design.
  • Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) with high attention to detail.
  • Support Production with MFG tooling, design support, inspection clarification, and Kaizen events
  • Work in gowned cleanroom Environments as needed to support manufacturing
  • Author and update comprehensive Work Instructions that guide technicians through the assembly process.
